Welcome! Here are suggestions on how to use February's Bore Da further in the classroom. February's themes are St David, Wales, the School Eisteddfod, Shrove Tuesday, colours and commands. |
|
Clawr Cwis, a thudalennau 8 a 9 Cover the cover with coloured pieces of card. The children should call out the different colours, and you or another pupil should then remove the cards of that colour to slowly reveal the photograph on the cover. Ask the children what do they know about Charlotte Church. Ask:
You could play one of Charlotte's songs to the class. Tell the children to study the poster in the center pages of Bore Da. Ask what colour Charlotte's jeans are, her belt, her eyes, the three tops she wears, her phone and her fluffy scarf. Now make copies of the Ffeil Ffeithiau on page 8 and cut up the information, separating the questions and the answers. Put complete sets in envelopes, one for each group. Each group should match the correct questions and answers and rebuild the fact file. Now give each child a fact file to answer personally. Collect them all and place them in a large envelop. Ask one of the children to read one of the fact files to the rest of the class, and the rest of the children should guess who wrote it. Tudalen 3 Gweithlen 1 Gorchymyn! Teach the children other commands, for example Run! Sit! Stand up! Stop! Be Quiet! Speak! and Walk! Practise these commands then give each group two commands. They should create their own worksheet, think of a situation, draw a picture, write underneath the picture exactly as in Gweithlen 1. For example, The Head teacher comes to the classroom. What does Miss Jones say: (Stand up!) Tudalen 6 7 Annwyl Celt y Ceiliog Give each group blutack and some stars. Place a copy of the letters page, possibly enlarged, in front of the class. Ask the following questions and award a point to the first group who finds the answer and comes to the front of the classroom to stick a star on the correct letter.
Tudalen 10 Gweithlen 2 Lliwiau After correctly colouring the circles, the children can colour the pictures as well. Tudalennau 11 Posau a Gwobrau Send the puzzles to Bore Da, Swyddfa'r Urdd, Ffordd Llanbadarn, Aberystwyth, SY23 1EY before 1 March. There are loads of prizes to be won. The name of the winners will appear in Bore Da. Tudalen 12 Os gwelwch yn dda ga'i grempog? Write the names of the six countries on the board and find them on a map or globe (England, Brittany, Russia, Mexico, America and France). Then give each group a copy of the page with the countries names hidden and the pupils should decide which pancake comes from which country. Can they name other food eaten in those countries as well?
