Welcome to Bore Da's teacher's leaflet April 2005
Welcome! Here are suggestions on how to use April's
April's themes are clothes, the body, |
Before showing the children this month's Bore Da ask them who are their favourite super heroes. How many super heroes can they name? Tell them that one of the super heroes are on the cover of this month's Bore Da, and hold a quick vote to see how many can guess that it's Spiderman. After reading about Spiderman the children can make a poster for another of the super heroes. Tell them to write a few sentences under the poster describing the super heroe's clothes. Tudalen 2 Celt y Ceiliog After reading the cartoon, hold your own fashion show in the classroom. Let the children wear their own clothes, split the class into groups and have each group write the script for everybody in their group. Tudalen 3 Gweithlen 1 Dillad After completing the worksheet split the children into pairs and tell them to write what their partner is wearing, and draw a picture of him/ her as well. Then each child should follow the pattern on the worksheet, and draw a picture of an imaginary person and write two descriptions of their clothes - one correct and one incorrect. Either collect them all and go through the pictures with the class, or give each group three or four of the puzzles to work out themselves. Tudalen 4 5 Dei Diog Give each group a copy of the cartoon without the text, and a separate sheet with the text written in a different order. The children should decide which text goes into which bubble. Tudalen 6 7 Annwyl Celt y Ceiliog Please send your pupils letters to Bore Da, and we will publish some of them during the next school year. The letters can be general, or they can follow one of themes listed on the enclosed leaflet. Tudalen 11 Posau a Gwobrau Send the puzzles to Bore Da, Swyddfa'r Urdd, Ffordd Llanbadarn, Aberystwyth, SY23 1EY before 1 May. There are loads of prizes to be won. The name of the winners will appear in Bore Da. Tudalen 12 Rho gynnig ar… wneud cwpan ŵy Give the most confident learners a copy of the page, without the text - but leave the Geirfa and the list of deunyddiau/ what you need on the page. Explain that the page shows them how to make an egg cup. Tell the children to study the pictures and write instructions, in English, under each picture. Then read the Welsh instructions. The children should find it easier to follow the instructions because they have already given some thought as to what the text will say. Tudalen 14 15 Criw'r Bys Stop
Split the class into four
groups. Each group should act a quarter of the story. Tell them to decide
who will act the characters, who's directing and the rest of the group can
act the rest of the class. Name badges might help. After giving the groups
time to practice, you can stage a performance |
