Give each group a copy of Bore Da. There are pictures of a monkey, giraffe, Koala bear, parrot, elephant, zebra, lion, crocodile, rhinoceros and snake on the cover. Give each group ten envelopes - in each envelope they will find the letters to spell the name of one of the animals. The group should solve the anagrams and place the name of the animal on the desk near the correct animal. Tudalen 2 Celt y Ceiliog Before reading the cartoon give the children the following list so that they can decide what each animal likes doing. Twm Tarw likes to lay eggs Cara Ceffyl likes to eat everything Moi Mochyn likes to eat hay Celt y Ceiliog likes to jump in the field Clasirsa'r Iār likes to eat chocolate Tudalen 3 Gweithlen 1 Anifeiliaid Anwes Tell the children who do not have a pet to draw a picture and write about an imaginary pet. Before completing the worksheet revise some vocabulary with the class eg animal names, where they live and what they enjoy doing. After completing the worksheet the children can read their work to the rest of the class. Tudalen 4 5 Dei Diog After reading the cartoon give the children the following questions to answer.
Tudalen 6 7 Annwyl Celt y Ceiliog Please send your pupils letters to Bore Da, and we will publish some of them during the next school year. The letters can be general, or they can follow one of themes listed on the enclosed leaflet. Tudalen 8 9 Doctor Who Ask the class do they watch Doctor Who? Do they like Doctor Who? Have they seen K9 on Doctor Who? After reading the article the children can design a poster advertising the programme, remembering to include the programme's transmission details. Tudalennau 11 Posau a Gwobrau Send the puzzles to Bore Da, Swyddfa'r Urdd, Ffordd Llanbadarn, Aberystwyth, SY23 1EY before 1 June. There are loads of prizes to be won. The name of the winners will appear in Bore Da. Tudalen 12 Poster Eisteddfod yr Urdd Good luck to everybody who are competing at the Urdd Eisteddfod in Ruthin at the end of the month. Remember to visit the Urdd stand at the Welcome Pavilion, where you can meet Mistar Urdd and enjoy a drink at the alcohol free cocktail bar. See you there!
