Teachers Leaflet: September 2005
Welcome! Here are a few suggestions on how to use the magazine in the classroom.  Septembers' themes are myself, the house, months, numbers and greetings.

Gweler yn Gymraeg

Tudalennau 1 8 9 Clawr a Rownd a Rownd
Give the class these sentences to fill in the gaps.
Hello, I am ________.  I am _________ years old.  I've got long ________ hair, and blue _________ years old.  I act on Rownd and Rownd.  Ffion Llwyd; eyes; blond; fourteen.

After reading the article on the centre pages the pupils should choose one of the three other members of the cast and prepare a fill in the gaps exercise of their own.  Then they could swap their work and solve their partner's exercise.

Tudalen 2 Celt y Ceiliog
Photocopy the Celt cartoon and erase all the words in each bubble.  Write the text in bubbles and place them in an envelope.  In groups, the class should choose the correct bubble for each frame and use blue tack to attach the bubble in place.

Tudalen 3 Gweithlen 1 / Pen-blwydd Hapus
Draw a birthday card for Dei Diog on the board.  Draw a picture of a bed, a pillow and a moon.  Then create a birthday card for Harry Potter with drawing of a pointed hat, a wond, an owl and so on.  Ask the children to name the items while drawing each picture and ask them to guess who the card is for.  Once the pupils get the hang of this they could then draw a birthday card for themselves / their favourite pop singer / member of their family / friend.  Discuss the vocabulary and colours while doing this exercise, and write Happy Birthday inside the card.

On the board write When is your birthday?  My birthday is on __________ of ____________.    Learn these words.   The

class should ask each other when is their birthday then stand in a birthday line from January to December.

Tudalennau 6 7 Annwyl Celt y Ceiliog
In an envelope place all the Welsh and English words form the Vocabulary box.  In pairs tell the pupils to match the correct words together.  This could be a great opportunity for them to learn how to use a dictionary.

Tudalennau 12 13 Ty'r Cyffredin
Ask the class to name famous buildings in Wales or in your area.  Write the list on the black board and then for homework ask the pupils to find out more details about the buildings, for example size and age.  The pupils could then choose one building and create a post card with picture of the building on one side and description of the building on the other side.  Do send the postcards to Bore Da and the best ones will be published in the magazine before the end of the year.

Tudalennau 14 15 Criw'r Bys Stop
In the story there are two new pupils in the class.  The crew insist on asking questions to the two new children.  Ask the pupils to finish the following conversation:

Aled: Hello, what is your name?

Carys:

Gwyndaf: Have you got a brother?

Carys:

Ahmed: Who are you?

Eifion:

Lea: Where do you live Carys?

Carys:

Sara: Have you got a pet?

Carys:

Aled: Do you like playing football Eifion?
