Tudalen 2 Celt y Ceiliog After reading the stories, the most confident pupils can, in pairs, draft their own cartoon about their hobbies by following the pattern of the Celt story and think of an unfortunate incident involving their hobbies. There are more ideas in the cartoon Dei Diog. Tudalen 3 Gweithlen 1 Hobiau After completing the worksheet tell the children to write a hobbies diary themselves, one hobby for each day. Then get the whole class to sit in a circle. Ask one child "Beth ydy dy hobi di?" (“What is your hobby?”). They should answer "Fy hobi i ydy nofio" (“My hobby is swimming”) then ask the next child "Beth ydy dy hobi di?" (“What is your hobby?”) he should then answer "Fy hobi ydy chwarae piano hobi Jac ydy nofio. Beth ydy dy hobi di?" (“My hobby is playing the piano, Jac’s hobby is swimming. What is your hobby”) (to the next child). The task is remembering and repeating the hobbies of everyone in the circle. Tell the children to think of a hobby and mime that hobby. The rest of the pupils must try and guess what the hobby is, the one who guesses correctly goes next. Tudalennau 6 7 Annwyl Celt y Ceiliog Choose a sentence you would like to focus on from the letters, for example 'Mae'n gas 'da fi Home and Away achos mae'n ddiflas.' Write each word in that sentence on a separate piece of card. Give the pupils a card each and ask them to stand in line, showing the correct word order of the sentence. As the pupils read their word out loud the remaining pupils can check to see if they are right. Repeat with a different sentence. Tudalennau 8 9 Haka Caerdydd After reading the article about New Zeland how about asking the pupils, in groups, to create their own haka for one of your school’s sport teams? They can then practice the haka and perform it to the rest of the class. Here is an English translation of the haka which is on the page - Death! Death! Life! Life! Death! Death! Life! Life! This is the hairy man who went to get the sun and make it shine again. Step up, another step up, step up. The sun shines! As homework the pupils can find three facts about Fiji, South Africa and Australia to share with the rest of the class before the rugby games. Tudalen 10 Gweithlen 2 Pa hobi? Use white paint to cover all of the words in the vocabulary box in the text. Make copies of the page an tell the pupils to fill in the blanks with the words from the vocabulary box before doing the quiz. Tudalennau 11 Posau a Gwobrau Send the puzzles to Bore Da, Swyddfa'r Urdd, Ffordd Llanbadarn, Aberystwyth SY23 1EY before 30 November 2005. There are loads of prizes to be won and the name of the winner and their school will appear in Bore Da. Tudalennau 12 13 Gwneud Pethau The vocabulary on this page is fairly difficult but tell the children to use the vocabulary box and to remember to look at the pictures for clues and further explanation of the instructions. They can follow the instructions and make a window decoration as home work maybe.
